We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter based at our Foundry Duport Tipton site. The successful applicant will carry out maintenance to mechanical equipment and assist the team with optimisation through efficient fault diagnosis. The role holder will also play an active part in all mechanical plant installation and modification work to support the team.
A flexible approach is needed towards working hours at short notice to meet business needs, overtime may be requested to cover busy periods. The role will follow the below shift pattern;
Monday to Thursday – 1130 to 2000/ Friday – 1130 to 1900

To carry out scheduled preventive maintenance checks and procedures, record and report any adverse signs, symptoms or trends and instigate and/or implement appropriate corrective action

Perform diagnostic checks on faulty plant and equipment and strip down, replace/repair and re-assemble as necessary

Attend machine breakdowns to support Design, Electrical and Maintenance Engineers.

Liaise with the fabrication shop for the manufacture of fabricated items to fulfil maintenance duties and for modifying manufacturing facilities for operational and/or safety purposes

Interpret engineering specifications and drawings with the ability to work from hand sketches and verbal instructions to carry out repair and maintenance

Maintain adequate stocks of materials, parts and equipment to fulfil maintenance duties

To ensure cost effective and timely ordering and supply of spares and critical equipment

Carry out acetylene burning, gas welding and electric arc welding as necessary to fulfil maintenance duties

Assist management in the programming of scheduled maintenance aligned to production requirements

Use of hand tools and equipment appropriately and safely for carrying out maintenance activities

Follow company safety regulations and codes of safe working practice at all times
What You Need To Do It…

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering

Previous experience of working within a foundry setting would be advantageous, shot blast and core machine knowledge would be a definite advantage

Previous heavy industrial maintenance experience
